GHK-Cu

GHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide composed of glycine, histidine, and lysine coordinated with a copper(II) ion. Its molecular formula is C14H21CuN6O4, with a molecular weight of 404.9 g/mol (CAS 89030-95-5). First identified in 1973 by Loren Pickart, it was observed in higher concentrations in younger human plasma compared to older samples. The copper ion binds through the nitrogen atoms of glycine and histidine, giving the crystalline powder its characteristic blue color.

 Naturally present in trace amounts in plasma, saliva, and urine, GHK-Cu is supplied as a blue crystalline powder, highly soluble in water, and should be stored refrigerated at 2–8°C.
